A light tent is a box with translucent walls that turns any light outside it into an even, shadowless wrap inside — the arrangement behind most product photographs on a plain background. The specification that decides everything is internal dimensions, and the honest way to choose is to measure the largest object you expect to photograph and then leave room around it, because a subject filling the tent takes the background with it. Lighting is either built into the tent as LED strips or left to lights placed outside; where it is built in, the same questions apply as to any fixture — the colour temperature, whether it is adjustable, the colour accuracy index if the maker publishes one, and whether the strips run down both sides or only the top, which decides how even the result is. Backdrops are usually a set of removable sheets in several colours, and the useful detail is whether they are seamless sweeps that curve up the back wall or flat panels with a visible crease. Openings matter more than they sound: a front opening and a top aperture let a camera look in from two directions, and a side slit lets a hand reach in without collapsing anything. Then folded size and whether the frame is sprung or assembled from poles.
