Move the camera forward in small, even steps with the rack and pinion, take a frame at each step, and merge the sharp parts in software. It is slower than a lead-screw rail but costs a fraction.
The camera screws onto the 1/4-inch thread, and the rail mounts on a tripod head. There is no Arca plate, so changing setups takes longer than with the NEEWER GM-MP2.
