Andoer 12-inch Camera Slider review

A 12-inch manual slider with four bearings and plenty of threads, for about $37. It has nine ratings.

Motion for little money

A short slider adds gentle movement.

Mounting

Threads for tripod and accessories.

Load

Figures disagree. A declared load is a static figure: what the support holds without slipping. It says nothing about vibration, wind or what the head can hold once tilted.

Cameras use a 1/4-20 tripod thread; larger heads and sliders often use 3/8-16

Cameras use a 1/4-20 tripod thread; larger heads and sliders often use 3/8-16. A reversible screw or an adapter lets one support take both.

Getting smooth slides

Level the slider first, then support it at both ends on two light stands or a tripod and the included feet. Move the carriage at an even speed, start and stop gently, and use a light camera and lens: the less weight on the carriage, the smoother the move.

Short rail, simple moves

At 30 cm, the rail suits slow pushes toward a product, short parallax moves past a foreground object and tabletop B-roll. For longer moves, the Fotodiox 32-inch rail on this shelf is the step up.
