Arca-style plates slide into a clamp on a tripod head by a dovetail profile. The shape was copied from the Swiss maker Arca-Swiss by many brands, without a shared published document.

A dovetail plate that clamps into a head. The name comes from Arca-Swiss, and the profile is widely copied.

What it does not promise

Without a document, there is no dimension a plate can be held to. Fit is a matter of practice.

Where it turns up

The NEEWER GM-MP2 macro rail uses double Arca-type plates, and the NEEWER X11 teleprompter has an Arca-type holder.

How to check before buying

Look for the profile named on both the plate and the clamp, and prefer clamps with a safety stop.
